A Halloween Mini-Story

Jack by Stan Yan

The bubbling witch’s potion casts a mist over the cobweb-covered table: the table Jenny and Jason’s guts lay strewn across. The fog isn’t enough to hide the horrible expressions carved on their faces. This is no trick, it is now my turn, and her hand holds me down so I can’t move. That’s when I feel the knife enter me.

Okay, I don’t feel it, but I am too excited about my first Halloween to worry about little details.

I am going to be a jack-o-lantern!

    • I hope it doesn’t read TOO old. My 9-year-old liked it, but then again, I think he thought he was reading forbidden fruit at the start.
