Bryan is wheeled from his gurney by medic in the extreme foreground. Background is the SanFrancisco skyline.
Bryan’s arrival in San Francisco left him with one definite impression: This town was very vertical.

When I was admitted, one of the first things they did was torture me with the ultrasound.

The lady running the ultrasound couldn’t seem to find my gall bladder.
Instead of moving it, she’d just press harder… and harder… for 45 minutes!
Similar to panel 3, but the ultrasound is pressed even further into his flesh. Pain marks emanate from the insertion.
I wasn’t gonna succumb to the cancer – it’d be death by ultrasound.
I don’t think she ever found it.
