Okay, I’ve had some family stuff going on as you can imagine being the holidays, so the sledding has been a bit slower than I’d hoped. Here’s the roughs, inks and colors for page 3 of my Vincent Price Kickstarter project.
The pencil roughs and lettering I lay in completely digitally on Photoshop. The font is my actual hand lettering scanned into Scanahand by High Logic made into a font I used for the SubCulture webstrip (sadly only for PC). From there, I temporarily flatten the visible layers of the pencils and use Selective Color to convert to blue line and print them at 30% opacity onto 11 x 17 paper several times and ink backgrounds, midgrounds and foregrounds on separate printouts so I can create movable layers of depth when I rescan them in using Pentel PocketBrush and various widths of Pitt pens. Once all scanned in and placed, I create color flat layers (starting in white) using the pencil tool behind each of the scanned ink layers. Finally, I put color onto the flat layers and use a custom pencil tool at 20% opacity to create shadow and highlight layers for each layer, using layer effects for changing background line art to that dark blue color you see.
The numbered stick figures are places I will be inserting the illustrated likenesses of some of my funders, and the background, unnumbered figures are where the “extras” funders will go.
Again, visit my project page, where a link will be as soon as the campaign has launched. Please help me out and share this will your interested family and friends.
